Kids Learn Opposites in Two Languages

Fast payday loans For Every One

More than 120 first graders learned their opposites in both English and Spanish using our Boca Beth bilingual song titled Opposites / Los opuestos.  Now you can learn even More Opposites / Más opuestos with our featured song and themed lesson fun for this week.

Find the suggested circle time activity to do with the more opposites song below:

This opposite song encourages lots of movement and bilingual learning. Sway dance is the dance of choice here with the chorus section – then the children act out the opposites as they are sung in English and Spanish. The children love acting out long & short, hot & cold, slow & fast and then open & closed. Lots of opportunities to sing, dance and play in this one.

Here are the words to our Boca Beth song where children learn about the shape of a star / estrella and more:

“More Shapes”

(sung to tune of “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow”)
Diamond is diamante

Diamond is diamante

Diamond is diamante

I know my shapes.
Diamante es diamond

Diamante es diamond

Diamante es diamond

Yo se mis formas.
Star is estrella

Star is estrella

Star is estrella

I know my shapes.

Estrella es star

Estrella es star

Estrella es star

Yo se mis formas.
Heart is corazón

Heart is corazón

Heart is corazón

I know my shapes.
Corazón es heart

Corazón es heart

Corazón es heart

Yo se mis formas.

See you later this week for more fun!

Catch These Toddlers Learning Their Shapes in Two Languages!

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Love, love, love this video of two toddlers who had fun learning their shapes in Spanish and English via my Boca Beth song:

How about some cool tools to continue the bilingual learning fun?

FREE STUFF:

Try this from Enchanted Learning’s web site.  (Follow the link of the text please.)

Language cards that you print off in full color, both languages on them, and then you laminate them!  Scroll through the many pages of cards to find all the shapes you wish to introduce.

This site is one of our favorites and has a wonderful array of things for preschoolers to learn about shapes, and even though they say ‘las figuras’ for ‘shapes’ and we use ‘las formas’ for ‘shapes’ it’s all good!  Did you realize there are more than 60 dialects within the Spanish language?  Often times there will be four Spanish words available for the one English word ~ all based on which Spanish-speaking country you pull the language from!  (Just a little FYI fun for you from me!)

STUFF THAT COSTS MONEY:

Name the shapes with the Sesame Street Gang!  This one looks like FUN!

I have personally never used this one, and it looks better for the older children (ages 6-9) so check it out!

I use this book A LOT during my live events because it introduces colors AND shapes.    You can get this for only $1.35 used on Amazon.com

Colors and Shapes / Los colores y las figuras (English and Spanish Foundations Series) (Bilingual) (Dual Language) (Pre-K and Kindergarten)
