Suggested circle time activity to do hand-in-hand with this fun Boca Beth song:

A fun and easy to understand song that brings the ABCs in Spanish to life. The reason this song is not bilingual is because the alphabets in English and Spanish differ quite a bit on certain letters so that there is no direct point of reference that would be easy for a preschool age child nor an elementary school age child to understand.

We free form dance our way through it or if you are feeling “creative” and “brave” you create the dance steps and it becomes a “you do what I do” lesson with lots of smiles and laughs (not to mention the early literacy skills involved as the children recognize sounds of letters in another language – allowing the child to better comprehend his own native language sounds).

There are visual aids to assist with this introduction of ABCs in Spanish that are sold at local learning stores or on web sites like www.lakeshorelearning.com - based on the age of children you are introducing the Spanish ABCs to will determine what you should get. Music Monday Features Opposites/Los opuestos for Teachers, Homeschooling Families and Children of All Ages

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Hola/Hi amigas, amigos/friends!  (Feels like I skipped a week but I was in Arkansas training and conducting a children’s concert for the Bentonville community so I was MIA for a couple of days!)

Back to the weekly fun of sharing lesson ideas, book resources, and Boca Beth bilingual beats that introduce Spanish and English to young children ages birth – ten! (Yes!  Pregnant moms should be listening to our CDs so that their babies learn in the womb.  Read this recent article on just that subject … learning languages in the womb!)

Enjoy our award-winning song about opposites from our second of four bilingual music CDs.  This one is written to the melody of One, Two, Buckle My Shoe.  Then follow us all week for additional resources to teach opposites/los opuestos to young children in the two most widely spoken languages in the United States – English and Spanish/Inglés y Español.
