My daughter asked me, “Why?” to which I replied, “Because we are in a position to help and give to others.”
I feel so very blessed this Christmas season of 2013 that our family is able to live a very rewarding and happy life. We do not really want for anything, and God has blessed us all with good health and much love.
So when it comes time to help others who give to us daily (like her teachers) and help contribute to those who are trying to make ends meed (such as the local organization Metropolitan Ministries and the homeless family on the street) I am all for giving and giving more.
Will you do the same? Will you set the example for those young ones watching you to see how you respond to the man on the street corner asking for money? Please do not reply, “Get a job!” because you do not know their story. Simply open your heart and your wallet and help those in need this Christmas season and be more like Jesus.
We have all heard it said ~ “Little children are like sponges when it comes to learning. They just soak it all in!”
It’s so true; yet our country does not capitalize on this wonderful period of learning and help our children prepare for this very global economy into which they have been born. Not one state has mandated early childhood second language learning; yet in many other countries young children are learning two and three languages before the age of 10 and in many cases before the age of 5.
I am consistently asking this question, “Are we doing our young children a disservice by not teaching them more than English – waiting until middle or high school when experts all agree is much more difficult than when a child is ages birth to five.”
You tell me what you think …. please / por favor.

Witness two toddlers learning Spanish with me and having a blast:
I have always loved the fact that as the owner of my own business I can make decisions right away about what to do with the direction of my company.
When Cyber Monday 2013 was approaching I asked only my Executive Director (my husband and best friend!) if he had any thoughts about what special discount I should offer existing and potentially new customers. He put it so very well, “You wish to move through some extra product every Christmas Season, and there are many people out there looking for an affordable way to help their kids learn Spanish so why not make it 50% off and help all of you?”
So I started a 50% savings yesterday that will last through the entire week (through 12/7/13) with code CYBER (Yes! I know! Real original! But it’s easy for all to remember!)
This Boca Beth Beginner Backpack costs only $20 with code CYBER
SHOP HERE NOW! Save 50% on all orders and shipping is ALWAYS free in the U.S. – code CYBER for 50% savings.

My new passion in life has become helping our NOPE Hillsborough Task Force share our powerful one hour presentation that shares three consistent messages for middle and high school students:
Be the Hero and Tell Someone …. who can help if you or a family member or friend has a problem with drugs and/or alcohol
One Time Can Kill … small quantities can kill and your first time use may be your last
Make the Call! Dial 911 … if someone you know is exhibiting signs of overdose and/or acting ill after taking drugs and/or consuming alcohol
Follow this link to watch the video of our in-school presentation that took place yesterday at Ben Hill Middle School in Tampa, FL. You could have heard a pin drop as more than 300 8th grade students, teachers, and administrators experienced our NOPE Presentation that is changing lives when it comes to narcotic overdose deaths.
I thank God for the gift he has given me to feel compassion for others, to have a kind and loving spirit, and to have the ability to speak in public with little fear and lots of passion.
Thanks for listening to what is driving me these days – Beth Butler
This journey as a small business owner continues to amaze me, enrich my life, and gift me with new friends along the way. Such was the case when I attended a Working Women Conference in early September of this year.
Angela and I sat down for a delicious lunch at Tampa’s Oxford Exchange many days after the conference, and she was thrilled to hear that I had been an Exchange Student during my high school and early college life. That this experience led to my creation of The Boca Beth program and product line was just icing on the cake as far as Angela is concerned!
Young children learn rapidly and soak in all of the new learning like sponges…how often have we heard or said that?!?! Witness two toddlers learning shapes in Spanish and English with my Boca Beth music and movement fun bilingual program (see video below).
I hear it often … YOU speak fluent Spanish?!?! You can read that entire article in Spanish?!?! You understood what that man just said on the Spanish news station?!?!?! My answers are consistently, “Sí” to these staring at my blonde hair (okay, okay….L’Oreal now helps me stay blonde!!!), blue eyes, and freckle face!
Boca Beth sports freckles, blonde hair, and blue eyes as she teaches young ones Spanish with her bilingual music CDs, DVDs, and her company’s bilingual coloring/activity book shown below and found at this link on her web site.
So why do I bring this up today? It’s been this way for me since I lived in Chile in 1976 and in Mexico in 1979. This morning we had a wonderful tree service company called M&M Tree Service over to our home to assist us with some really tall trees! The crew (all 4 of them) were Latinos, speaking Spanish the entire time, and when I replied to them in Español I thought the crew leader was going to fall over in disbelief.
By the end of their productive time at our home he was exclaiming to me and anyone who would listen that my Spanish was excellent, my pronunciation perfect, and that I spoke better Spanish than he…now that is a compliment!
One of my amigas over at SpanglishBaby.com told me just the other day that I am a trailblazer, and I believe (again!) that I will accept this as a compliment…that in spite of me being a native English speaking mom and teacher I have embraced my love of Spanish as my second language and have helped other families for more than 12 years bring the two languages of English and Spanish together in their daily routine in a fun and non-threatening way with my music CDs and DVDs.
I hope my 12+ years of service have been not only rewarding for me but enriching for thousands. Now my hope and my prayer is to remain in business as I increase my volunteer work with NOPE Task Force here in Hillsborough County Schools.
It is so rewarding and fun to “meet” fellow moms and teachers virtually, have them review my Boca Beth bilingual music CDs and DVDs, then offer a generous giveaway of those same items via their blogs. Thank you / gracias to every mom, teacher, Auntie, Grandma who told me “Yes/Sí” to my request to be part of their Christmas / Holiday Gift Guides for 2013!
Here is a link to the most recent review of teaching children Spanish using my music and movement method where English is placed right alongside Spanish for long term retention and a point of reference for those little ones still learning their native language. The giveaway is worth $50, and you will have it in time for Christmas gift-giving.
