Tips to Introduce Spanish to Little Children

Friday, September 5th, 2008

You know you want to do it!

You know you should do it!

You just don’t know how to do it!

Child learns Spanish with Boca Beth fun products

Read this light yet edutaining article about tips on introducing Spanish to your young child:

Terrific Tips for Parents Who Want to Teach Their Child a Second Language
Presented by Beth Butler/Creator of the BOCA BETH Program

You realize the benefits of having a second language but do not know where to turn or how to begin the process for your little one? You recognize the fact that your child will need to speak more than just one language in order to travel successfully through this global society of ours? Read through the following second language learning tips provided by a bilingual mom of three, educator of thousands and leading expert on the subject.

Start the second language learning early! Experts agree the earlier, the better. Play language music CDs during the pregnancy. Talk to your baby from the moment of birth in two or more languages if possible. If you and your family only speak one language, begin introducing a new language with bilingual music CDs and DVDs when appropriate.

Repetition is the key for all your child’s learning. Repeat! Repeat! Repeat!

Piggyback Songs to Teach Spanish are Highlighted Tonight at PECA

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Yeah!!!  I get to mingle and meet with my colleagues tonight at Great Explorations in St. Petersburg, FL.  The Curriculum Fair is for Pinellas County’s ECA (Early Childhood Association).  I am the music fun for ECA’s statewide conference later this month.  Friday morning, 9/26, I will open up the fun with my 20 body part song called Movin’ & Groovin’!  Check out the words here!  (Look towards the bottom of this list of songs!)

Boca Beth as Keynote

Funny how God works – I am not the keynote tonight, not even presenting, simply a vendor able to talk about my Boca Beth songs, how they are piggyback songs (meaning the bilingual songs I write are record are written around melodies children and adults are familiar with).  My knees are pretty banged and bruised from Sunday’s car accident, not to mention my chest area from the seat belt so I could never have been a presenter tonight.

Join me, won’t you?  It’s at 1925 4th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL  33704 (MapQuest it – I will be!!!)

Lots of cool Boca Beth fun products to introduce Spanish and English to little children.  CDs, DVDs, coloring/activity books, puppets, and musical shakers.  Can’t make it?  E-mail me at and ask me for a free MP3 version of ANY song off of any of my four bilingual music CDs.  I will send it to you personally before the week ends.  Promise!

Starting the New School Year with Spanish and Laughter

Monday, August 18th, 2008

As a former classroom teacher (more than 10 years in the elementary ed level and two years of preschool) I remember those first day of school jitters!  Not only are the children nervous, us teachers get nervous and lose plenty of sleep the night (and even the week!) before!

Lightening up and laughing more should be the first thing all of us focus on this new school year.  Whether we are stay-at-home moms, homeschooling families, classroom teachers or family child care providers . . . laughter really is physically good for all of us (laughter increases blood flow and protects the heart) and allows us to be more childlike so that we might connect better with those innocent children we reach daily.

And introducing Spanish as a second language this year will prepare your children for what is certain to be a very global economy in which they will live as adults.  Read my article here on Starting the School Year with Spanish!

It makes sense, and it makes their lives that much richer.

Start the School Year Speaking Spanish with Young Children

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I have received many calls over the past few weeks from teachers exclaiming, “I was chosen by my school to introduce Spanish to the 3’s and 4’s.” or “I start teaching Spanish once a week to little children and have no idea where to start.”

I am so thrilled that they called ME!  I love letting them know that even if they took Spanish and forget most of what they learned years ago, that there is success ahead of them and the little children they hope to reach.  You DO NOT have to speak the new language yourself in order to give the gift of introducing it to young children.

Forget the myths you have heard about 2nd language learning and bilingual education – native speakers are great to have in the classroom and home setting, but it’s just not the reality of our lives.  Many families have monolingual parents or only one parent who is bilingual and we all know that our public school system has no funding for hiring bilingual teachers for all of the classrooms across our country.

So – take your God given talent of teaching children with a smile and fun and your love of children themselves, buy a Boca Beth CD for $14.99 and FREE shippping, download our FREE resources on our web site located at this link and go to town amigas and amigos.

Teaching Diversity, Languages and Appreciation Can Be Done with Preschoolers

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Little ones ages birth through five will easily soak up new languages, engage in new cultural activities and appreciate all that these new sights and sounds bring them.  What is so wonderful about the early years is that these children have not been jaded by society, have not heard the screams for “English only” or read the editorials from narrow-minded citizens who feel we are being wronged when we talk about introducing a new language into our public school system using their tax dollars.

Boca Beth and a baby get the learning going

So follow this link right now to get some FREE bilingual language cards for introducing Spanish and English to your young children today.  Many of these 88+ cards match our concepts introduced in our Boca Beth bilingual beats.  You know how much little ones love learning with music.  Boca Beth music helps a new language get wired into the preschool aged child’s brain the fun and easy way.

Dog / Perro - it’s that easy

Then follow this link to get some cool bilingual coloring sheets.  FREE once again from me, Boca Beth!!!  Once you print off this one on numbers, there are four other pages for free from our 44-page bilingual Boca Beth coloring/activity book.

As I walk these streets of South Florida, have breakfast at the place of a Native Columbian woman (who, by the way, exclaimed to my family on the way out of her restaurant how great their mommy’s Spanish is!!!!), and hear the many languages at this time share spot, I thank God that my mother allowed me to not only learn Spanish as my 2nd language but to also travel to Chile and Mexico as an exchange student to experience the cultures of these friends of mine.

Thank you Mother / Gracias madre –
