Tim Tebow Coming Back to Gator Nation – Great Leaders Stand Tall!

The news this morning in our Tampa Tribune newspaper (yes!  WE still read a good old fashioned newspaper daily!!!) was awesome, terrific, inspiring and more for a Monday!

Tim Tebow, the wonderfully talented and very motivational and very Christianity-on-my-sleeve and face, will return to Florida next year ….. boldly blazing a path that very few young adults dare to even dream about!

I have been asked many times during my public performances to not sing our Boca Beth bilingual Christian songs in order not to offend anyone.  I have been asked during many keynote events not to bring God into the picture as I paint my very unique and engaging story!

As I watch and admire Tim Tebow, I wonder at myself, “Why do you agree NOT to share the word of the Lord when it is that very word that has brought you to where you are today?”  Shame on me!  A grown woman has not the courage to do what a bold college aged young man does daily - and that is to thank Jesus for being our Lord and Savior.

Do you feel this is something I should continue to walk on eggshells about?  Would you agree NOT to share your faith during a speech with fellow educators – many of whom are believers, and many of whom would benefit from hearing just a little bit of good ol’ “Thank you Jesus!”?

I would love to know YOUR thoughts on this – thank you/gracias.

And Tim, thank you for inspiring someone at least twice your age to minister more to those she reaches daily also!

Hello Beth, I stumbled upon your website…We are Christians before anything else! This is all temporary, and will one day pass away. What you do with your life here and how you touch people through Christ is what counts. STOMP ON THEM EGGSHELLS, I finally did! This past Christmas, I said Merry Christmas at the checkout counter and made people aware that it is Christmas not HOLIDAY!! We are bombarded here in California on a daily basis to keep God out of everything! We feel that saying God Bless you after someone sneezes is as offensive as if you were to have cursed at them. There is power in the name Jesus/God.
I work with kids at a center where Christmas just was not something everyone wanted to hear about. I decorated with a Christmas tree, lights, bows, etc. I had a parent talk to the owner that we should not have all of this HOLIDAY decor bombard the kids! I could not believe it! I told my boss, we have a National Holiday called CHRISTMAS not HOLIDAY!!! So I am going to say Merry Christmas and not Happy Holiday and I had every right to do so!
More of us Christians should be more like unbelievers and stand up and not be ashamed for what we believe. God will bless you for not compromising who you are. I was willing to loose my job over this. God will give you the strength to confront this in a graceful way and he will bless you. It’s amazing how God speaks to us, even through newspapers!!! More Christians should be supporting you because you are deciding to live for Christ first.

As a public school teacher, I understand your feelings of not sharing your faith. But I have a couple of wonderful, bold, positive teens who praise Jesus almost daily! It is humbling, but also inspiring, to see these young people stand up. I understand that I cannot do the same in my position as a teacher, but when you are speaking to adults I would think it’s a different situation. It’s a shame that we are so worried about offending. I know what I believe, and another person sharing their beliefs, even if different, is not offensive. Why is everyone so hyper-sensitive?

BTW, I was talking to a Walgreen manager a few weeks ago b/c I noticed that all of the employees said “Merry Christmas” . . . I wanted to tell him how much I appreciated it. He told me that he made the decision that his employees should say whatever is on their hearts during the season, and that he had an overwhelmingly positive response from customers like me.

    Thanks :-)

Just to clarify, I meant that it’s a shame that others have asked you not to share your faith. I, of course, don’t think you’re hyper-sensitive!! Just society in general. (Afraid I didn’t word that correctly the first time!)

Praise God! I love what you had to say Magge about stomping those eggshells. You go girl! I did say Merry Christmas all last December, and it felt good. I even shared it in our Boca Beth Buzz (our monthly e-newsletter) and worried not if anyone became offended.

And Diane, thanks for your words of support as well. Being in the public school system for years back in the 1980s it was not such a big deal as it is now to celebrate Christmas, set up a tree in the classroom and share the true meaning of the Christmas season. Some are hyper-sensitive, and so be it.

I am thankful for my new-found Christian life and supportive amigas such as you both.

    Gracias/Thank you.

While you may offend some and some doors may be closed on you, I truly believe being openly thankful to the God who got you where you are will result in a more successful career overall. I love (and own) your bilingual Christian CD and love that you are sharing your thoughts here which is a bold courageous move!
