We Survived Tropical Storm Debby!
I am so very happy to be back on solid ground! Sailing on a Carnival Cruise during the Tropical Storm Debby was NOT the best thing to do this past weekend…but the best part is that I am alive to tell about it.
Here is what she looked like 3 days ago when we were out in Cozumel just heading back to Tampa:
Now – if you know anything about geography then you know that between Cozumel and Tampa, FL there is a bunch of bad, bad cloud coverage and weather, and WE HIT IT!
I prayed a lot, I took motion sickness pills (finally in the middle of it all), and I still had fun. That is one thing about Carnival Cruise Line – they make sure the fun keeps going while their Captain used his God-given talents and truly found a decent route around and behind the storm. He slowed us down to what seemed like 3 mph and waited for it to dump its ugliness on parts of my lovely Tampa Bay Area. Then he sailed us right in behind it.
Sure … we looked out our cabin window and saw the 9-12 feet swells. Sure … we swayed from side and side and up and down during part of the Gulf of Mexico ‘ride.’ Sure … people got sick, people fell down the stairs, but overall out of the 2,000+ people on the ship we all just rallied to the cause of praying for a hedge of protection, and The Good Lord provided.
I leave you with this Boca Beth song from my company as a thank you / gracias for being alive. (FREE download follows the YouTube video):

Thank you for listening to my story of survival!
