Lions and Tigers and Bears and Dogs and Cats and Ducks – Preschool Learning Fun!

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

It’s been a journey creating a company that brings Spanish and English language learning together for young children.  I love how we didn’t just create a DVD and put it up for sale, hoping people would buy it.

I literally took my teaching in early elementary school classrooms along with preschool classrooms experiences, my living in Chile and Mexico experiences, and my raising three children experiences and combined them all to make a practical, what-can-I-use-easily-each-day type of approach to my Boca Beth Program and product line.

backpack-small  Now 9 years+ into this entrepreneurial experience, I find myself continuing to share free resources via this blog that will empower parents and teachers to introduce Spanish and English to young children with smiles.

Free suggested circle time activity for our animal songs from this week’s show over at are at this link.  (Song #11)

Free language cards that feature many animals vocabulary words in both world languages are at this link.  (Look towards the bottom of the page.)

And – of course – coloring pages with animals from around your neighborhood are right here.

Plus, we love providing online video learning fun when possible about our bilingual themes:

Anything else you would like to see from us?  We love suggestions?

How to Introduce Your Child to Spanish as a Second Language

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Recently I ‘met’ the Speekee amigos & amigas.  I first found out about Speekee via my relationship with www.SpanglishBaby.comWhat?  You haven’t visited Ana and Roxana’s wonderful community of helping you raise bilingual children (with the emphasis on Spanish and English?)?!?!

I’ll tell you this – you visit regularly and get involved in their active community of parents and teachers hoping to change the face of our nation’s communication then hook up with Speekee for their free two-week-trial for practical applications you can make to your daily routine for Spanish learning, and you will be well on your way to adding to the Boca Beth language learning fun you already enjoy.

A wonderful resource for our audio/visual daily learning fun is from my friend over at Spanish Word a Day.  Sign up for his FREE daily word lessons that include audio as well as visual.  (Did you realize that almost 70% of people need to see something in order to REALLY learn it?)

It truly is amazing how the internet has opened up many, many doors for learning.  What doors have you found?  Which ones have worked successfully for you and your family in terms of learning Spanish and English at a young age?  Share in the comments below, and you never know what wonderful Boca Beth gift/regalo I might send you as a GRACIAS.

How Do YOU Share Your Voice? Check Out iVoices on iVillage with Me!

Friday, June 10th, 2011

It wasn’t long ago that I found out iVillage was looking for 10 new iVoices for its community.

I put in an application, was asked to make a 3 minute promo video, and VOILA!  Next thing I know I am featured in their highlight clip found right here at this link!

With Natalie Morales of the TODAY show, along with Kelly Wallace of iVillage, plus Tamron Hall of MSNBC’s News Nation and Amy Robach of Saturday TODAY helping with the judging process it’s great to know that my passion and my bursting-to-come-out-stand-up-comic-side will possibly be unleashed in a bigger platform than I already enjoy.

Many of you who have followed my journey for the 9+ years I have been online know some of the topics on which I am passionate.  Having had either first-hand experience with or close proximity to (via family & friends) the following life challenges:  bullying of a middle school child, addictions, coming out of a loved one, English-only mentality, and loss of a child during pregnancy.

Everyone has a journey.  It’s what we choose to make of the journey that sets us apart.

I hope to share my voice as one of the new ten iVoices on iVillage soon.

How Many Languages Can Successfully Be Learned Before Age Five?

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

smiley-boy  Reports vary!

  Experts debate!

  Parents say “No way!”

Most findings suggest up to five languages can be successfully learned & processed in a young child’s brain before the age of 5!

My feeling as a mom and as a bilingual program/product line founder is introduce what feels comfortable to both you and your family.

Below is a video showing two children under the age of  five learning both Spanish and English AND having fun:

What do YOU think?  Know of anyone in your circle of family or friends who has a child as a walking testimony to the fact that these young children CAN learn more than one language before the age of five?

Does Online Programming Work for Young Children?

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

After having explored the world of Preschool Series and creating a program that would be fit to pitch to the ‘big guys’ such as Nickelodeon, Disney, PBS I have opted to take my Boca Beth Program and bilingual fun to the online world of sharing.

fiesta-fun-2 Are young children ready, willing and able to learn via a live show that is now streamed from a computer?  Granted, with technology these days, you can stream that show from your computer into and through your TV’s big screen with just a hook-up of cables!  (Now that boggles my mind!)

I guess my question is, are children ready for this type of interactive and real-time learning style?  Where the Host of the show actually calls their name out loud, recognizes the children by name and everyone experiences real time learning?

watchingfiestafunThis is an image of a family child care provider in Florida and her family child care children enjoying one of my weekly bilingual shows for children via

We sing, dance, and play in Spanish and English for learning fun that seems to FLY by in 30 minutes.

Any thoughts on where this type of programming might go?  Is this the new way of sharing a preschool series that just couldn’t raise the millions of dollars needed to compete in the arena of the big players and simply struck out on their own to share their vision organically?

Would love to hear from you!  Happy Educating / Sea feliz educando Boca Beth
