Tomorrow I will visit a local elementary school’s second grade class and am preparing just a few things ahead of time to ensure my hour spent with them is productive in their learning of Spanish AND English plus FUN!

I truly love connecting with the students during my visits since I left the classroom full time to begin my Boca Beth Program more than 8 years ago!  Their lack of inhibitions, their candid remarks and their love of learning with music bring joy to my heart and happiness to my soul.

This will mark the 8th Christmas that I will sit and ponder the thought of many children opening their presents and our Boca Beth products being one of them!  Each year I marvel at the fact that I have created a bilingual program and product line that thousands and thousands of little children around the world are using on a daily basis to sing, dance and play their way along a 2nd language journey!

I never take it for granted nor do I take lightly that these families are willing to part with their money to invest in their children’s futures.  Nor do I find it a small thing that they trust in the fact that my Boca Beth CDs, DVDs, activity/coloring books, puppets and musical shakers will shape their children’s language learning for life!

This week we are seeking the truth about how real is the mindset that little ones under the age of five can benefit from being introduced to a second language.  Can these drooling, teething, nursing, burping and sometimes tantrum-throwing beings actually absorb more than one language?  Will they be better for the jump start on 2nd language learning or be delayed in their language development?

 While it’s easy to see the success with little ones via my Boca Beth Program I realize many of you know little of how much success we have witnessed over the 8 years.  So I encourage you to read some of the hundreds of testimonials we have regarding the success of children birth – five learning Spanish and English at the same time right here!

Then why not pick up this book titled The Bilingual Edge at your local library or book store and thumb through the chapters – reading ones of interest to you.  Written by two moms who are Ph.D.s in linguistics they provide many myth-busting reports surrounding bilingual learning early in life.

And if that is not enough to convince you that earlier is better when it comes to introducing a second language to your little ones and investing in their future, then I suggest you scan through this document for more comforting reports on the many benefits surrounding learning a second language before elementary school.

I understand that it’s difficult to wrap your arms and mind around the concept that babies under the age of 11 months could have learned all 6,000+ languages of our world.  (After which point the brain begins to compartmentalize the way in which language acquisition takes place.) 

Don’t worry – that’s about as technical as I will get today!  Point being, we all can attest to the fact that the older we get the more difficult it seems to learn more than one language.  So let’s help our future generation learn more than English and let’s make it easier for them by providing them tools such as what my Boca Beth Program offers before elementary school.  Seems like a no-brainer to me.  What do you think?

That is the million dollar question?!?!?  

  ”How can these little ones learn one language much less two successfully?” some ask!

Did you know that the latest research out of Texas states that children up to the age of 5 can learn FIVE languages at the same time?!?!?!  It’s true!  I have a colleague here in Tampa whose daughter was speaking 5 languages when I met her at the age of 10, and she did not confuse a thing, she was in the accelerated classes at her school, and she was one of the best 10-year-old communicators I have ever met!

I know it’s the start of the Holiday Season when our local Chick-Fil-A lights up their parking lot and restaurant with the most amazing light show I have ever witnessed from one place!  Featuring ‘snow’ and Christmas music – it’s a delight to feel the Season of giving coming on (even though it was 86 degrees yesterday here in Tampa, Florida!).

I also know it’s the start of the Holiday Season when The Victoria’s Secret Angels host their annual hour long fashion show.  It was last night, and it featured more ‘wings’ than ever before! Katy Perry performed (which simply goes to prove that in Hollywood anything goes as Katy segues from Sesame Street to the runway of the Victoria’s Secret Show!)
