Good For You Head Start! Good For Our Children!

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Did you read the latest about the stimulus package providing a significant amount to Head Start and Early Head Start Programs around our great country?   If not, click here to read.

This means so much for the future of our youth, for the parents of today who are struggling, and for the teachers who are trying to make things happen!

I am so psyched to present at the National Head Start Conference in Orlando, FL this April!  I will be presenting an interactive, high-energy early childhood education workshop titled Sing, Dance and Play:  English and Spanish are Part of a Child’s Day!

We might even have BOCA our costumed character show up for part of the bilingual fun event!  He joins us for many keynotes but not usually workshops!  Check it out!

I would love to hear what type of workshops and trainings interest you the most?  What makes them stand out in your mind?  Do you like to fill in a handout as you go along or do you like to have the information all right in front of you on a sheet and you simply follow along?

Would love to hear!

Bilingual Song Showcased During Start of NBA All Star Game

Monday, February 16th, 2009

I was pleasantly surprised when Tamia Hill sang a bilingual version of O’Canada last night prior to the start of the NBA All Star Game.  Even our 8-year-old exclaimed, “Listen Mommy!  She’s singing in French and English!”

Tamia Hill Sings a Bilingual Version of O' Canada

Gracias Tamia for showing more of the world that this bilingual presentation works!

Just as our Boca Beth songs are presented in a bilingual format – the English words sung right alongside the Spanish word – all within the same song!  Why?

  • Provides the young child a strong point of reference for the new language
  • Gives monolingual parents and teachers a great feeling of confidence when using these bilingual products to help children learn
  • Allows for higher self esteem among both Anglo and Latino children as they continue to hear their native language as they gain skills in the new language
  • Experts agree a bilingual format during the early years works best for quicker acquisition of the new language and long term retention

WHAT DO YOU THINK?!?!?!  We would love to hear from you…..

Boca Beth Introduces Spanish with Music

Boca Beth Introduces Spanish with Music

I am so ready to conduct a local six-week class.  Starting February 26th, 2009 at 10 am I will be sharing my bilingual music & movement fun with Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Brandon, Riverview, and other surrounding cities families at the Carrollwood Cultural Center.

The place is beautiful and located at 4537 Lowell Road, Tampa, FL  33618 with phone number 813.269.1310 to call for registration.  It’s so cool…they charge you by the family so it’s only $45 for members for the six weeks total or $50 for non-members no matter whether you have one or three children!

Join me, won’t you?  Your child will learn some vocabulary words and phrases in both English and Spanish while having a blast, sparking neural pathway connections for later language learning, plus you might even learn a few words yourself!

Fun songs like this will be shared and played during the Boca Beth Bilingual Class.  Plus all of our CDs, DVDs, puppets, books and musical shakers will be on a special local’s discount sale during the session time!

Will you be joining us for the Tampa-based six week session?  If you live too far away, e-mail me at bocabeth@msn.com to request that I send some free bilingual TV programming to your local cable station so that you might be able to enjoy THAT!!!

Thank you Grand Island, NE Early Childhood Educators – What a Great Conference for our Children's Future!

Monday, February 9th, 2009

I remember last year being invited to Keynote in Grand Island, Nebraska and asking the Conference Chair person, “Are you experiencing an increase in Latino population growth or did you simply hear that I am a fantastic Keynote?!?!?”

She answered, “Both!”  Their town of Grand Island now consists of 40% Latino families, while the entire state of Nebraska had actually increased in Latino Population something like 170% over the past five years (now, don’t quote me on that percentage, but it’s something really high because a woman on the airplane told me, I just didn’t write it down!).

BOCA the mascot and I, Boca Beth, WOWED them, educated these 325 early childcare professionals on how important it is to introduce two languages early in life for early reading skills and for creating lifetime language learners!  PLUS they had a blast!  Check out the pix below!

We will post more pictures and a YouTube video of all the fun later this week!

Thank you Sue, Roxanne, Jeanette, Nancy, Margaret, and all of the amazing, wonderful, giving, sharing, loving, terrific early childcare professionals of Grand Island and the surrounding cities!  I love you gals (and two token guys!).

Sharing my Boca Beth Fun Products with BUD's Help – Who's Bud? Read On!

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

There is a business side to me even though you all mainly read about and hear about the creative side of me as Boca Beth!  My hubby keeps me grounded in the fact that one day he would like to see us profitable and even have me take a salary!!!!  (I love that guy!)

This post is about a recent opportunity that I have to get the word out about our Boca Beth bilingual music CDs, DVDs, books, puppet and all of the cool language learning sets that I have available to people in the retail side of things plus some celebrities!  All via a cool concept called BUD – Boutique Up Daily – is what it stands for!

Here is what owner Lisa shared this week:

Its not everyday that an opportunity like this comes our way. We’re very excited to be able to offer this marketing opportunity to sellers and designers of children’s products:

We have put together a mini-marketing blast and are taking names of people who are highly interested in participating. Our deadline for positive participation is Thursday February 6th, 2009 (by positive participation, I mean YES, you can commit, lol).
We are putting together a print & online catalog of all children’s products, which will:
  • Include up to 30 participants
  • (print copies) Be included in 40+ totes being gifted to celebrities by Style Cafe Moms at the Baby & Tween Celebration LA expo on April 24-25th, 2009.
  • The catalog will be promoted via advertising on Earnshaw’s online magazine
  • Each participant will receive a copy of the print catalog
  • We will submit & promote the catalog to our list of buyers who attended major children’s tradeshows in 2008 (plus our additional contacts in children’s retail)
This is an excellent supplement to your marketing plan, especially if you’re not planning on attending a trade show this year.  If you are not currently familiar with Baby & Tween Celebration LA, or Earnshaw’s, I suggest you take some time to get to know them. Both have amazing influence in the children’s product and boutique realm, and are highly respected as influence’s in the market.
Inclusion:
  • Cost is $200 per participant
  • Ad space is a 1/4 page ad which allows 2 product pictures, description and contact information
  • We will create professional ad design and description for you
  • High resolution, professional-quality photographs are a MUST
  • You must have a website to participate
  • We will handle all aspects of the catalog design, printing, mailing and promoting.
  • All materials, including payment and pictures MUST be received by our set deadline.
We’re moving fast on this opportunity, as our absolute deadline for 100% catalog completion is February 25, 2009.  At this time, we are taking a count of 100% positively interested participants. If you can commit, please email me at: kidscatalog@boutiqueup.com.
So, you could win a spot in our catalog!  You must be willing to re-post this entire blog entry on your own blog, tweet about it or in some other way, promote our catalog opportunity.  Then, leave a comment about where you promoted us & enter to win a free placement ($200 value).

Fine print: We reserve the right to cancel the catalog at any time if participation does not reach our requirement. If the catalog is cancelled, there is no other form of reimbursement made available to those who have entered our contest.  Because we don’t want you working hard for us for nothing, we will offer you something for your trouble in the instance that the catalog is not producted (to be discussed).

Thanks!

Two things here…..should I do this investment of $200 when every cent counts even more than ever in this economy?  And secondly, how about you?  Are you an entrepreneur with a product, hoping to get the word out about it?  Then do what she asks to at least enter the contest.  And let me know your thoughts please.
