Start the School Year Speaking Spanish with Young Children

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I have received many calls over the past few weeks from teachers exclaiming, “I was chosen by my school to introduce Spanish to the 3’s and 4’s.” or “I start teaching Spanish once a week to little children and have no idea where to start.”

I am so thrilled that they called ME!  I love letting them know that even if they took Spanish and forget most of what they learned years ago, that there is success ahead of them and the little children they hope to reach.  You DO NOT have to speak the new language yourself in order to give the gift of introducing it to young children.

Forget the myths you have heard about 2nd language learning and bilingual education – native speakers are great to have in the classroom and home setting, but it’s just not the reality of our lives.  Many families have monolingual parents or only one parent who is bilingual and we all know that our public school system has no funding for hiring bilingual teachers for all of the classrooms across our country.

So – take your God given talent of teaching children with a smile and fun and your love of children themselves, buy a Boca Beth CD for $14.99 and FREE shippping, download our FREE resources on our web site located at this link and go to town amigas and amigos.

Teaching Diversity, Languages and Appreciation Can Be Done with Preschoolers

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Little ones ages birth through five will easily soak up new languages, engage in new cultural activities and appreciate all that these new sights and sounds bring them.  What is so wonderful about the early years is that these children have not been jaded by society, have not heard the screams for “English only” or read the editorials from narrow-minded citizens who feel we are being wronged when we talk about introducing a new language into our public school system using their tax dollars.

Boca Beth and a baby get the learning going

So follow this link right now to get some FREE bilingual language cards for introducing Spanish and English to your young children today.  Many of these 88+ cards match our concepts introduced in our Boca Beth bilingual beats.  You know how much little ones love learning with music.  Boca Beth music helps a new language get wired into the preschool aged child’s brain the fun and easy way.

Dog / Perro - it’s that easy

Then follow this link to get some cool bilingual coloring sheets.  FREE once again from me, Boca Beth!!!  Once you print off this one on numbers, there are four other pages for free from our 44-page bilingual Boca Beth coloring/activity book.

As I walk these streets of South Florida, have breakfast at the place of a Native Columbian woman (who, by the way, exclaimed to my family on the way out of her restaurant how great their mommy’s Spanish is!!!!), and hear the many languages at this time share spot, I thank God that my mother allowed me to not only learn Spanish as my 2nd language but to also travel to Chile and Mexico as an exchange student to experience the cultures of these friends of mine.

Thank you Mother / Gracias madre –

Spanish for Children Supported by Barack Obama – Boca Beth Can Help!

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Wow!  A potential new president coming right out and saying, “Every child should learn Spanish.”  Now, I did not listen to his speech.  I got clips of it on my Google Alerts.

What I am saying to you as the proud founder of The Boca Beth Program is that we have the solution right here for this country with the most fun, the easiest, the most affordable and realistic solution to introducing Spanish right alongside English!

This is our year Obama!  This is our year all of you monolingual parents and teachers who are frustrated and can’t seem to figure out how to give your child the jump start they need on learning Spanish as a 2nd language or – for the Latino parents – how to maintain your native language for your child as he learns English with pride!

We are going to do it, do it, do it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Conference for Family Child Care Providers Was Work and Worth It!

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

No one said it was going to be easy, and the past four days proved that right when it comes to sharing my Boca Beth Program with the world!

Ahhhhh….exhibit halls, breakout sessions, hundreds of new people wanting to know about my Boca Beth bilingual music CDs, DVDs, and books for children ages birth – ten.  It’s exhilarating but exhausting!

Boca Beth training session   Boca Beth motivates the NAFCC attendees with music and movement fun!

What I loved most this weekend at NAFCC Conference were the new family child care providers who came up to our adorable exhibit booth in the Schaumburg Convention Center, had never heard one word about Boca Beth, and ended up buying a Boca Beth Bilingual Backpack because they fell in love with the idea!

Thank you Illinois for being such a great state to host such a great conference.  Thank you mi hermana/my sister Mary for working with me and sharing YOUR passion for this fun bilingual program I have created to introduce Spanish and English together even when or even if the parents, teachers and providers are monolingual themselves.

Listen in to Why, When and How You Should Introduce a Second Language to Your Little One

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Michelle of MomsTalkRadio.com conducted a great interview with me, Boca Beth, and I would love you to listen in!  Click here to listen in on this short but edutaining radio interview!

I speak to why you should introduce a second (or third and fourth) language to children before the age of five (it helps promote early reading skills, develops the cognitive area of the child’s brain PLUS helps your child gain a lifetime of language learning skills when it’s easier to do so).

I also address the when you should try to get the language learning going (between the ages of birth and ten is best according to every expert in the field of early childhood education and linguistics PLUS I speak about how, as a monolingual parent or teacher, you can do this introduction of the second language easily and in the car, in the classroom, out at the park, in the kitchen – making it a part of your daily routine which is essential to a young child having the repetition necessary for learning any new concept).

And finally I speak with Michelle about how interaction is the key to beginning the second language journey – that playing with your child as you introduce an engaging DVD that speaks both in the native language and the new language is key along with using music to teach the child Spanish and English together (provided those are the two languages in your family’s life!).

Again … I invite you to listen in by clicking here … then invite me for an interview on your local TV station, radio station or favorite print publication!  I love sharing my Boca Beth passion for second language learning with young children!
